Efter dödsbeskedet – Banks storhyllas: ”Min idol”
Den engelske målvakten Gordon Banks, som var med och vann VM 1966, är död.
Nu svämmar sociala medier av hyllningar till målvaktslegendaren.
– Nej! Gordon Banks var en av mina idoler och en sann legend, skriver Gary Lineker på Twitter.
Banks var med och ledde England till ett historiskt VM-guld 1966 och röstades fram till årets bästa målvakt sex år i rad.
Direkt efter dödsbeskedet började hyllningarna strömma in och flera minns tillbaka till den fenomenala räddningar han gjorde under mötet med Brasilien 1970 från Pele.
– Såklart den DÄR räddningen, men det är så mycket mer än det, skriver Raheem Sterling på Twitter.
”Min stora hjälte”
En annan legendar, Gary Lineker, sörjer och skriver att Gordon Banks var hans idol.
– Gordon Banks, som är min hjälte och en sann legend i fotbollen har i dag gått bort, skriver han på Twitter.
– Jag är förstörd, i dag har jag förlorat min hjälte. Mina tankar går till familjen, skriver Peter Shilton.
